1970 – 2010: From pony-riding centre to amusement parkFreizeitpark Lochmühle has been popular with families for 40 years. Everything began with the two pony mares Heidi and Susi. Theo Zwermann, the founder of the park, wanted to establish a little pony breeding farm when he had to give up agriculture because of health problems. Both his daughters had lots of fun with the Shetland ponies, and also their friends kept visiting the Lochmühle to go pony riding. The Lochmühle developed into a pony riding centre. Additionally, discarded tractors were set up all over the area for playing. The first “real“ rides were small self-made cartwheel roundabouts. In the course of time, the number of rides and other opportunities for play increased. Today about 150 attractions are distributed across an area measuring 16 hectares. Children can speed down a giant slide, ride a rollercoaster and roundabouts, float along the Erlenbach on rafts or enjoy a tour of the whole park in the “Polo-Express“. It is possible to feed goats, sheep and chickens in the petting zoo, and if you are lucky, you might see little chicks hatch in the animal nursery. The park offers picnic and barbecue huts as well as barbecue places which can accommodate groups of various sizes. |
